Our products include award-winning apps that have been downloaded more than 150 million times in 215 countries and offer fun, safe, open-ended play experiences.

Since the start in Stockholm in 2010 our portfolio has grown to include 34 digital toys and a brand new video streaming service for kids. And soon we’ll be rolling out our first physical products.

As of 2016, Toca Boca is part of Spin Master, a global children’s entertainment company that creates, designs and manufactures a diversified portfolio of innovative toys, games, products and entertainment properties. Toca Boca has 99 employees that are based in Stockholm, New York, Toronto and San Francisco.

In order to be able to create more world class digital toys we're looking to expand our team in Stockholm with an experienced Play Designer. You will work together with talented designers, artists and developers to produce digital toys for kids all over the world. As a Play Designer at Toca Boca you are responsible for coming up with new digital toy (app) concepts, be the visionary leader of the products you work on and make sure children love the products. You are the interaction designer of the team and you work tightly with programmers and artists to create the product based on your concept.

We're looking for an Play Designer that:

  • have taken playful digital interactive concepts to finished products
  • want to shape how future generations of children play
  • have experience of working conceptually and is a great visionary
  • have a strong relation to current children's culture
  • can take responsibility of a coherent strong user experience for someone much younger than yourself
  • have experience in working close to a production team
  • have experience of kids usability
  • understand the value of meeting and discussing concepts with kids
  • pays attention to detail, is curious and takes pride in your work
  • enjoys working together with artists and programmers to find graphical and technical solutions to your ideas.
  • is fluent in written and spoken English.
  • have experience from working with 2d and 3d products in Unity (not a requirement but a big plus)

What you will be doing:

  • You are responsible for the development of new concepts based on your vision.
  • You are the visionary of each product and you ensure that the team around you see your vision for the end product throughout the entire production process.
  • You are responsible for the organization and evaluation of Kids Tests with the help of the Kids research manager to ensure that the know-how we obtain there is transferred into the development of our apps.

  • You'll be working with team of artists and developers that come to the office excited to learn new things everyday.
  • We work in small teams of 4-8 people, which means everyone is an important contributor in the project and has a shared responsibility for what the toy becomes.
